Caleb's 23rd Birthday

Abby, Betsy and Rachel made it over to the Beasley's for Caleb's 23rd birthday celebration. Most younger Beasleys made it also, but the older Beasley siblings trickled in over the course of the evening from various jobs and activities.

Dinner was dispensed with poste haste and on to the fun activity of opening gifts and eating DQ icecream cake. We learned at Abby's bridal shower that icecream cake is Caleb's favorite. His family didn't forget!

Call the fire department! These birthdays get more dangerous the older you get!

Caleb had a cool verse reference on the top of his cake. I hope the folks at DQ that wrote it on the cake took the time to look it up. I'll just spell it out for you all reading this post...
Jeremiah 32:38-41
They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear Me for their own good and the good of their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them; I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear Me, so that they will never turn away from Me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all My heart and soul.

How's that for a cake topper!

After Caleb blew out the blazing inferno, he got busy opening his gifts. The theme of the birthday was "office supplies" though for some reason, Abby did not get the message! Phillip gave him pencils and Anna gave him the pencil holder. Anna was the photographer for the evening, so she got an extra special picture of her gift to Caleb!

Mrs. Beasley and John got him staples and a stapler. Grandma Ann gave him a tape dispenser and tape. Mr. Beasley gave Caleb a set of jumper cables for his car. Esther gave him a 512K flash drive. Way to go, Esther! Josh was absent for Caleb's party. He was at job training in Wisconsin, so his family took it upon themselves to purchase Josh's gift for him. Josh "borrowed" Caleb's camelback ever so long ago and left it at a bike race. They knew a good brother like Josh would want to replace such a valuable possession, so they bought it for him to give to Caleb and pay for when he gets back! Surprise! Dan gave Caleb a gift certificate to Village Inn, and Anna and Betsy went together to buy Caleb a gallon of Skittles! Abby got Caleb her favorite gift...clothes!

After gifts and cake came the killer game of Monopoly. There was no mercy for the birthday boy. Caleb was the first one out. Abby soon followed, and Mrs. Beasley even put her beloved "out of business." Mr. Beasley once referred to his boys as "brutal" but now we see where they get their competitive spirit! The Beasleys were somewhat mystified by Abby's "strategy" while playing Monopoly. She picked Oriental Ave because she liked the color. She seriously offered Mrs. Beasley a get out of jail free card so she could trade her for a property and make a monopoly. They couldn't believe she was serious. Abby should keep them guessing for many years to come!

What a fun way to spend a birthday!
